Preview of Thunderbolts* First Trailer Shows Off Lewis Pullman's Sentry

The first trailer for Thunderbolts*, the final movie in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been released by Marvel Studios. Keven Feige, the head of the studio, has not yet given an explanation for the asterisk, which is there on purpose.

The teaser below begins with Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, who isn't in the greatest of positions, visiting her father, Red Guardian (David Harbour). It's obvious that both characters require stimulation and aren't very content with their circumstances.

This anti-hero team-up is revealed in the trailer, starring Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Tasmaster, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and them all attempting to make sense of what's happening to them while fighting each other. According to the teaser, Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barns/Winter Soldier, will face up against the Thunderbolts before taking on the position of de facto leader.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus appears briefly as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the Thunderbolts' purported leader. The initial glimpse of Sentry, played by Lewis Pullman, who looks confused when the other members of the team show up unexpectedly, is the best, though.

Robert "Bob" Reynolds, aka Sentry, played by Lewis Pullman.
After The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun left the role of Sentry, Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman took over. The son of actor Bill Pullman, Pullman made a lasting impression in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022 as Lt. Robert "Bob" Floyd. He has also starred in TV shows Outer Range, Apple's Lessons in Chemistry with Brie Larson from Marvel, and the 2018 neo-noir thriller Bad Times at the El Royale.

Following a major reshuffle in the wake of the dual writers and actor strikes, the movie was pushed from the 2024 release slate, leaving Deadpool & Wolverine as the only MCU film out this year. Yeun had to drop out of the Thunderbolts line-up due to scheduling conflicts, leaving the role of Sentry vacant.

With the exception of a few appearances in mobile games like Marvel Puzzle Quest, Marvel Future Fight, and Marvel Snap, Sentry is arguably the most dangerous and powerful superhero in the Marvel Universe. It will be interesting to see the character brought to life on the big screen.

Screenwriter Lee Sung Jin (Beef) is directing Thunderbolts, with Jake Schreier directing from the initial draft written by Eric Pearson, the screenwriter of Black Widow. When the story eventually hits theaters, David Harbour claimed Pearson had a "really cool" idea that will "drop a bomb" on the MCU.

In theaters May 20, 25 is Thunderbolts*.
